اقترح الصحفي الأمريكي كريس أوزبورن، في مقال لموقع 19FortyFive العسكري، تسمية مقاتلة “سو -25” الروسية بـ “الدبابة الطائرة” للجيش الروسي، على غرار المقاتلة الأمريكية A-10.
وقال أوزبورن في المقال: “المقاتلة سو – 25 التي تعود إلى الحقبة السوفيتية، هي مثل الحصان الأصيل، تم اختبارها في المعارك ولها تاريخ طويل في دعم القوات البرية خلال النزاعات العسكرية”.
وبحسب المقال، فإن طائرة “سوخوي – 25” ذات المقعد الواحد والمزدوجة المحرك، والتي أقلعت لأول مرة في عام 1975، مصممة لتوفير الدعم الجوي للمشاة واستخدمت في النزاعات في أفغانستان والشيشان وأوكرانيا.
وعلى الرغم من كونها أصغر من الطائرة الأمريكية A-10، التي أطلق عليها الجنود الأمريكيون اسم “الدبابة الطائرة”، فإن “سو – 25” الروسية لها خصائص مماثلة لنظيرتها الأمريكية، حيث أن كليهما لهما نفس النطاق تقريبا فهما مسلحتان جيدا.
وأشار الصحفي إلى أن هناك حوالي 250 مقاتلة من طراز “سو – 25 ” في الخدمة لدى القوات الجوية الفضائية الروسية، والآن تستخدم هذه الطائرة في العملية العسكرية الخاصة في أوكرانيا.
